DMM 英会話 33日目

teacher: Sarah Z

Sarah always teach me the correct sound if my pronunciation is not good. She studied some languages not only English but also Chinese, Japanese, Korean.

The words I couldn't pronounce well are: slow, words, faces(is not "~ez"), differently.

Today I go to flower shop to decide what kind of flower do we use at wedding party. The staff said in general it'll take about from 2 hours and a half to 3 hours to finish, though it took only about 1 hour and a half. So I noticed our decision making is faster than other couples. This may be because I'm not sticking about that, and I just follow my girlfriend's decision.

Teacher: JanetT

I could really enjoy this class though her rating is not so high. It was like chatting about our living cost.

From this lesson, I learned that there are some places having no cellular network in Philippine. It's surprising for me.

Since last week, I stopped playing PC and video games and it still continues. Instead of that, I write code or read books. It is more valuable time.

Teacher: Jenielyn

Today's topic is about Apple Watch and health care. I answered iPS Cell as a greatest invention of all time. She doesn't know about iPS Cell. I explain it by myself but she could't understand. It's a little bit hard to explain it even in Japanese. So I google it and give her its wikipedia page. I was surprised that she just read "stem cell" and understand what is it like. She must be clever.

Yesterday I skipped lesson again. I had an event for senior engineers. We talked about our own survival strategy as a software engineer. Everyone agree that demand of software engineer is getting bigger and bigger, so we won't lost our job in the future. Since such a situation, many senior engineers choose jobs or technologies what they like. They don't care about what technology will be useless. This is the point of view which I didn't have. I could learn a lot from this event.

Teacher: Imee M

Today, I got a lesson in my office. I have a farewell party in my office, and when I realized, it was 22:20. It's just 10 minutes before starting lesson.

I skipped the lesson of March 26th. There was a soccer match of Japanese national team at night. Therefore I was booking the class starting at 8:30 am. But I got up at 8:00 am. I don't have enough time to get lesson. It's lazy.

先生: Jaclyn
教材: Why Some Students Take Out Loans They Can't Pay Back

I get Jaclyn's class for the first time in 3 weeks. She is very kind and clever, therefore in the beginning I often booking her. But comparing to other young teacher, she has a dialect and makes some mistake, for example asking the same question because of her aging. I became to not book her.

I think it's good to get her class every 10 days.

先生: Marven E
教材: Social Media Tax Forces Millions of Ugandans Offline

I was surprised to hear only 12 percent of Ugandans have their own banking account. They sent money in online by sending text message, because of lacking of formal baking services.

We are talking about income taxes. I don't know how high our income tax is comparing to other countries. In case of Philippine, the highest tax is only 20 percent for people who earned $40,000. It's about half in Japan.

先生: JanetT
教材: Metro Train Gets New Life as Vending Machine

I couldn't remember the name where to ski, it is ski resort. When I tried to say, I was thinking how to translate "場" of "スキー場". But this way doesn't go well, "resort" is not come from "場".

If I used to speak English, I would speak without translating from Japanese. Because I have an experience in Chinese.
The way I studied English may be affected. In Japanese education, we trained too much to translate English to Japanese and Japanese to English. It's good to raise reading and writing skills, but not for listening and speaking, I think.
